When a liver transplant may help

A transplant may be considered when the liver is failing or for some liver cancers. Common reasons include:

Transplant care we arrange

Everything for the patient and the donor, from evaluation to follow-up after you return home.

Living donor liver transplant

A healthy family member donates part of their liver. In both people the liver regrows to near full size within months.

Donor evaluation

Blood tests, scans and counselling confirm the donor is safe to donate.

Transplants for children

For conditions such as biliary atresia, at centres with children’s transplant programmes.

Liver cancer

A transplant can be an option for some liver cancers, alongside other treatments.

Yes. Once your reports are reviewed, we explain the options in each country, including the donor rules, waiting time, cost and travel, and you decide.

Costs depend on the hospital, the tests needed and how long you stay, so we don't publish fixed prices. You receive a written estimate before you decide.
